云雀(拉丁学名:Alauda arvensis)是百灵科,共有4 个物种,是一类鸣禽。体型及羽色略似麻雀,雄性和雌性的相貌相似。背部花褐色和浅黄色,胸腹部白色至深棕色。外尾羽白色,尾巴棕色。后脑勺具羽冠,适应于地栖生活,腿、脚强健有力,后趾具1长而直的爪;跗跖后缘具盾状鳞;以植物种子、昆虫等为食,常集群活动;繁殖期雄鸟鸣啭洪亮动听,是鸣禽中少数能在飞行中歌唱的鸟类之一。
Skylark (Scientific Latin Name: Alauda arvensis) has four species in the family Lark, which is a kind of songbird. Its body shape and feather colors are similar to sparrows. The sexes are alike. It’s brown and light yellow on the back and white to dark brown on the chest, with white outer tail feathers, a brown tail, and a crest at the back of the head. With its strong and powerful legs and feet, it is adapted to terrestrial life. It has a long straight claw on its hind toe and shield-like scales on the edge of its tarsometatarsus. Skylark feeds on plant seeds, insects, etc., and often appears in groups. The male sings loudly and vividly during the breeding period, which is one of the few songbirds to sing in flight.
